Usually when we think of rules in today’s world we think of images like these…
These images remind the viewer to do or not to do certain things. Do you know the Ten Commandments.? Sometimes these are considered as rules and yes they are…..but when God gave them to Moses he gave them as life giving thoughts to help those who received them to love God and love one another. He gave them to us so we could be free to love and respect ourselves and others.
The Daughters of Charity believe that Christ is the rule of the Daughters of Charity. This means that we must come to know the person of Jesus Christ. When we grow in relationship with Jesus we come to meet a compassionate, gentle, challenging, just and prayerful person. We learn about Jesus as we encounter Him in Scripture, in prayer, in the Sacraments and in one another.
Scripture and prayer…….
Christ in one another…..
Our Founders Saint Vincent and Saint Louise perceived Jesus as
Adorer of the Father
Servant of His loving plan
Evangelizer of those who are poor.
Who is Jesus for you who dare to read this? Is He asking you to offer Him your life as a Daughter of Charity?
Why Daughters of Charity in today’s world?
- To follow Jesus
- To carry on His mission of sharing the Good News
- To be available in community to serve those who are living in poverty.
