Why would a young woman join the Company of the Daughters of Charity?

Ah Jesus

Well perhaps she may feel called by God to live a regular prayer life, to live in community and to serve persons who are poor.  God’s call reminds each Daughter of Charity to be faithful to her Baptism, the time when she was first welcomed into God’s family.  Baptism makes us free to serve God, responding to His love in our love for one another.

Authentic service can only be engaged in when we are following Jesus in our daily lives. At mass each day we receive the Body of Christ to become the Body of Christ.

As you are reading this, reflect on your life. Think of your relationship with God. Thank Him for your gifts and talents. Is God asking you to use these gifts in a specific way to serve other people? Remember God called Abraham, Moses and many other people.  Jesus called the apostles to leave everything to follow Him.  When we answer God’s call we are led to serve god’s people. The Good News is that Jesus promises to be with us always. (Mt 28:20)

The Daughters of Charity head God's call to give themselves, to live in community and to serve.
