Chanzo

Chanzo in Kiswahili means Roots or Source

chanzo.jpgChanzo house is situated in the Karen/Nairobi area.  It is the principal house for the Daughters for the future, for administration and formation and as their headquarters in Kenya.

The local community currently has six sisters.  It also provides accommodation for Daughters of Charity from other African Provinces who are attending courses in the nearby University/Tangaza College.

The sisters, together with their lay colleagues and volunteers, respond to some of the more pressing needs.  They work in peace school.jpgpastoral/social care in the parish, are involved in women's development projects, skills based and income generating projects, mobile medical clinics, prision visitation and pastoral service,

a pre-school and a special after-schools tutorial programme called the Peace School.

There is an empasis on home visitation, especially of the sick and elderly, and an outreach to the youth of the parish.
